Algaecide

Pool algaecide is a chemical treatment designed to prevent and control algae growth in swimming pools. It works alongside chlorine or other sanitizers to keep the water clear, clean, and safe.

Algae can grow quickly due to sunlight, warm temperatures, rain, debris, low levels of sanitizer.

Not all algaecide is the same! There is Copper and Copper-Free aka (60).

Copper Based Algaecide - Very strong & excellent for stubborn or recurring algae that works even when sanitizer levels are low & offers long‑lasting protection. Cheaper and (60). Copper levels should never exceed 0.2–0.3 ppm.

⚠️ Things to Know
Can cause blue/green staining on pool walls, may turn blonde or chemically treated hair green, requires proper water balance (low pH increases staining risk) & copper can build up in the water over time. Can cause damage to pool heaters and salt systems.

Copper Free Algaecide - (Polyquat or Quat-Based) Algaecide 60.  No staining on pool surfaces, safer on hair and swimsuits. Works well with sanitizers. A must if you have a pool heater and/or salt system. Ideal for weekly maintenance and prevention not the best for treating severe outbreaks. Is more expensive. Quats may foam, Polyquat doesn’t.
