Types of Filter Systems
There are three primary types of pool filters: Sand Filters, Cartridge Filters, and Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Filters. Each type has its unique characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages, which can significantly impact pool maintenance efficiency. Maintaining a clean and clear swimming pool is essential for both aesthetic appeal and health safety. Understanding the various types of pool filters available can help pool owners make informed decisions that align with their specific needs and preferences.
- Important Tips -
- Sunscreens, tanning lotions, and beauty products can cause lots of damage to your pool if you don’t take appropriate measures to prevent or get rid of it & protect your pool from the nasty oil buildup that can cause slimy walls, cloudy water, and clogged gunky filters! Please rinse/shower any residual oils off body before getting in pool. A great idea is to install an outside shower with a garden hose. If it's too late and your pool is contaminated with oil, they make special enzymes marketed for swimming pools, proteins that interact with your pool's chemicals to break down oils and other organic matter. Many enzyme products also contain surfactants, or special cleaners, that help the enzymes attract and gather the oil so it can be broken down. Only use enzymes labeled specifically for swimming pools! Other options for removing oils include chemical shocking, backwashing, or replacing an oil-clogged filter with a new one.
- We also recommend letting your filter system run 24hr/7days, the few dollars spent on the electric bill is tiny compared to having problems and having to spend hundreds or more on chemicals and/or a complete water change. If you don't want your pump to run all day, then we recommend 16on/8off.
