Collection: DE Filters
(DE) Diatomaceous Earth Filters offer the highest level of filtration, removing particles as small as 1-6 microns. (DE) filters use a powder made from fossilized remains of tiny aquatic organisms called diatoms, which coats a grid and traps contaminants as water passes through. (DE) removes tiny particles that bacteria feed on, this can significantly reduce bacterial levels in the pool water. (DE) filters require more maintenance and are generally more complex to operate. Removal of filter grids is necessary, (DE) powder must be thoroughly cleaned then replenished with fresh powder after.
- Pros - Superior Filtration, often have a larger filter area capacity compared to other types.
- Cons - Most expensive systems, most complex & time consuming to maintain.
- We also recommend letting your filter system run 24hr/7days, the few dollars spent on the electric bill is tiny compared to having problems and having to spend hundreds or more on chemicals and/or a complete water change. If you don't want your pump to run all day, then we recommend 16on/8off.
